Should you be in the office more or less?
It all depends on what your stat sheets tell you.
If your practice is not as successful as you would like, it means you need to spend more time working on the practice so it will grow.
The key here is to understand that you work IN the practice during clinic hours and then there’s the time you work ON the practice when the practice is closed.
Most doctors do not spend enough time working ON their business. They confuse the time working in the business with working on it.
The time we spend racing a car is completely different than the time we spend tuning up and maintaining the car. A practice is like a race car and we want it to run perfectly by working on it however much it takes to get it running the way we want.
Take the time to do a tremendous amount of work on yourself and on the practice. Get all the WINNERSEDGE procedures, systems, scripting, layout, equipment, staff training and money flow elements in place. You can then have a graceful practice for years into the future.
Many doctors do not put in the REQUIRED MASSIVE initial effort and end up tinkering with an underproducing practice for decades.
It takes a LOT more work than you think. This is a true statement. To get good at ANYTHING takes a LOT more work than people think. To get good at guitar, writing, bricklaying, jiujitsu, gymnastics, owning a business, or chiropractic all REQUIRE thousands of hours.
There are a few mental diseases people have: Something for nothing-itis and I want it now syndrome and I should get a lot from a little effort.
Understand the WINNERS in the profession are willing to put in MASSIVE effort for a modest return. This is how it’s done. Look at the years required for a runner to shave just a few seconds off their time to run a mile.
I tell the story often about the new graduate who had not even started making a student loan payment yet asking me if he can take Fridays off. How well do you think that doctor is doing today? Compared to the doctors who took my advice, paid their loans off in a few years and are on their way to becoming debt free multi-millionaire powerhouse DCs.
Put in the time. Put in the work. Get in the office and fix everything!
